How To Test GIT?

Postby andrewwan1980 » Mon Dec 11, 2006 4:19 pm

How can I test GIT? I've setup GIT at work PC which has direct connection to the internet (without router/firewall, etc.)

I go home and my home PC has direct connection to internet too (without router/firewall). At work I configured GIT with it's IP and my IP at home. Then at home I configured GIT with it's IP and IP at work. I forward all IPX sockets & UDP ports.

Now, how do I know GIT is working? I wanted to browse PC at work. How? I tried pinging it, no response.

hmm, you don't need git's own ip to make it work - just the other addresses to connect to.

it's been awhile for me, but i got file & print services to work correctly by forwarding tcp/udp ports 135-139 and tcp/udp port 445...and in the advanced cfg section, check off these options:

ieee 802.2
ethernet ii
forward arp
zlib
tcp
udp
icmp
match source port
dont send routable

that is all the setup you will need on both computers, for file & print sharig to work. i'm pretty sure of it but i have not tested it in awhile...it is what i used to make it work.

good luck
