A newer version already exists on this hard disk???

There seems to be a lot of problems related to installing and re-installing this software. I didn't see this particular one in the forum questions. I trashed the first application, re-downloaded it, and could not install because the installer says there is a newer version already on the hard disk. Turning off automatic updates didn't help. I'm stuck and really want a working version whatever it takes. My setup is Mac Snow Leopard on an Intel iMac with 2 gig memory and 250 gig drive.

Check in /Library/Receipts for any .pkg file with the name Morpheus in it. Delete them if you see any.

Also double check /Applications for any .app file with the name Morpheus in it, and you can delete that as well.

There are no files with the name Morpheus in this folder but there is the InstallHistory.plist which does have Morpheus in it. After checking other support forums about removing this stuff it turns out there could be info in hidden files that need to be removed with Terminal. I don't really want to go there just yet. It's not worth risking my whole system just for one application. Bottom line, I'm stuck with this problem until I can fix it safely.
