System Shock 2 Headaches

Howdy!

Since this game doesn't have IPX support, TCP is needed. My friend and I have tried various configurations stated for other games in this forum, but none have worked. Though the connection status states we are connected, I cannot ping his IP. He is behind a firewall (university, he has no access for forwarding, etc.) and I am using the DMZ option on my router so there should be no problem with ports on my end. Any help that would shed some light and possibly make the connection possible would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Lochmacher

greets

you're DMZ...hmm. It should be very easy to do.

try this. set the following boxes in GIT Advanced config:

Ethernet II
Forward ARP
Zlib Compression
TCP
UDP
ICMP
Also match source port
Don't send routable

Ok. You & your friend must achieve TCP/IP compatibility between your LANs, to exchange any traffic, be it pings or the game. An easy fix is to set up Microsoft Loopback then Bridge it to your internet NIC, giving the bridge a fake address compatible with your friend's University LAN...and having GIT listen on the MAC Bridge.

Then forward the correct game ports with GIT's Config screen...

good luck
