no chat in starcraft?

Postby dreslin » Wed Jan 28, 2004 1:46 pm

me and 2 friends tried out the GIT software last night it worked great except for 2 things. They couldnt start the game because it said i didnt finish downloading the map when i had already finished. and i couldnt see chat comming from my other friend who joined, the only other chat i could see was the chat from the host of the game not a word from my other firend, any suggestions on either of these issues? reply would be greatly appreciated.

I would try to help, but I don't have Starcraft to test with.
The configuration of GIT also depends heavily on your particular network setup. If you can answer a few of these questions, the people here might be able to offer some suggestions:

How does the game communicate? IPX? UDP?

Are you behind a firewall/router? Is it performing NAT?

Do you have the latest version of WinPcap installed?

Did you reboot after installing WinPcap?

Have you changed anything in GIT from its default setting?

What is the setup on the other end?

Try running GIT on the host in TCP server (listen) mode, with the "Accept all connections" box checked.

Then have each remote player run GIT and TCP connect to the GIT server. (if two players are on the same remote network, I think only one needs to use GIT)

That should make the broadcast packets visible to all involved networks...
...I think.
Is that right, Ark?
