Device detection

Postby gor.klots » Mon Apr 04, 2005 1:35 pm

As i understand, GIT creates a virtual tunnel between myself and host that I specify to transmit IPX Packets. When i go to Advanced Configuration, on the top of the windows that apears there's a lits of devices that i can choose from. I have an ADSL connection to the internet through a USB modem and another copmuter is using the same connection through a 3COM LAN Adapter using Internet Connection Sharring.
In that list, only the 3COM LAN Adapter is shown and the USB modem is not.
Any ideas why?
in case you didn't understand, here's how it works:
my sister's PC [onboard LAN] -> [3COM] My PC [USB ADSL Modem] -> Internet (ISP).

Thanks,
gor.

First, try upgrading to Winpcap 3.1 beta to see if it detects your usb modem. Chances are it does not, because USB is not really meant for network devices.
A better approach is to see if your DSL modem offers ethernet instead, and use that! Get a 2nd NIC if you have too.
