problem with GIT using m0n0wall router

this is strange. ive used GIT before successfully with a friend. but im now using a freebsd based firewall called m0n0wall and im running into a problem.(before i was using IPCop and it was working well)
when i enable the tunnel, all network activity stops on the computer with GIT(my pc). i can't even contact the router when the tunnel is enabled. it just borks everything up. when i disable the tunnel. everything goes back to normal.
anyone know what might be causing this or what this could be a result of?
-i know its my side that has the problem, the other side hasn't changed since we got GIT working, but im trying new router software(m0n0wall)
-only things enabled are ethernet 2, udp, tcp, icmp, arp, also match source port.
-only ports forwarded are 2 for a game(ravenshield) to work.

im not sure if this will be helpful, but m0n0wall unlike other routers does NOT allow LAN ips to access the WAN ip of the router due to a limitation in ipfilter/ipnat.
