Git for Gran Tuismo 4 on playstation

Postby B-MAN » Tue Mar 15, 2005 12:41 pm

I was wondering. Gran Turismo 4 for playstation is a lan only game. But i found this website that discribes the way to tunnel in in linux.

So i guess it's possible with GiT too right?

Could any one check? maybe post the settings? im no good at tunneling :(

Its most likely possible with GIT. Settings are dependant on your network configurations on each side. You would need to use the GIT logs and determine which port(s) the game uses.

I can't tell if port 5000 is the game port or the tunnel connection port. GIT uses port 213 for its tunnel connections. You can always try port 5000 for tunneling and see, otherwise, just check the logs, all packets can be shown there so its not hard to figure out.

so basicly i make a tunnel on port udp 213 or something (wich i forward on my router to my GiT "server") i forward everything i get on port 5000 (wich should be the game port) through that tunnel.

When everything works.. will it be like he is in the same lan?

If you forward all ports (except 213 of course, to avoid forwarding GITs own packets), and you forward UDP,TCP, ICMP, and ARP, it is almost like being in the same LAN, but that doesn't mean everything will work. Some games require that you set up your LANs in the same subnet and without any conflicting IPs. So if you use 192.168.0.1 for your router and 192.168.0.2 for your computer, he must use 192.168.0.x IPs, but cannot use 1 or 2 because you are using them. A setup like that can be created for GIT by using the Generic TCP/UDP wizard in v0.99 BETA 4, but GIT does not change your LAN settings for you, so you still need to configure your IPs if that creates a conflict.

Hi

I wrote the GT4 website about tunneling it over the internet. You only need to open port 5000 on each end to establish the tunnel. Once that is up all tcp traffic is routed across the tunnel. udp is not supported unless the tunnel machines both have static public ips. But I couldn't get it to work because I am also doing nat on my public ip. And nat and tunneling don't seem to jive, at least I couldn't make it work.

Honestly, I haven't yet been able to test playing GT4 online yet. Anyone want to try and set it up?

squirm - you are saying that the tunnel program under Linux uses port 5000? That is not applicable here since this forum is about GIT. GIT works with nat, udp, etc, not just tcp. Its best if you configure GIT to only forward the traffic needed for the game, so you don't waste time forwarding other traffic like netbios or such.

Settings for all PlayStation 2 network games

* Allow ICMP
* 53
* 80
* 443

When you purchase a game, the ports (or ranges of ports) which need to be opened in order to network play the game should be detailed in the gameplay manual.
Of course, network-enabled titles from other publishers can be set up in the same way, though the specific ports that should be opened may differ. Port settings are generally to be found in the gameplay manual, packaged with the game. If they're not, contact the publisher's customer helpline or website and they'll be able to supply you with the specific ports.
Below is a list of the most common ports and port ranges (a group of sequentially numbered ports).

UDP port ranges to be left open for all common network play titles

TCP Ports: 4558, 7001, 10070-10080, 17087
UDP Ports: 4558, 6000-6999, 10070, 17087

these are the ports for playstation
