Ok, so me and my friend are trying to play warcraft 3..

We both have linksys routers at our houses. I have tried the things people have suggested on here, and no go. (Frozen Throne is being used, and same version).

If anyone has had success from this on FT or anything, can you please post a quick step by step on what to set up, I'm having trouble getting this to work and having trouble picking up pieces from post to post. Thank you, much appreciated.

I am also trying to figure out how to run WC3 using GIT 0.98; i have read all the posts on setting this up and i am still confused. mainly; what is a subnet mask, and how do i change it if i have to?

fyi, This is the situation:

there are 2 pcs; one in the US and the other in egypt. (yes, egypt)

the US pc is a cable modem; very fast. the egypt pc is ADSL.

US PC: IP address is known (xx.xx.xxx.xxx) <--- GIT server
Egypt pc : IP address is 1.0.0.1 - we used the link below to get the external IP

both pcs installed GIT, and we have established a connection (connection status shows packets sent and forwarded)

we used callidus's advice at this post:

viewtopic.php?t=232&highlight=warcraft+3

and we still cant get the game to work. both versions are the same WC3:TFT v1.07

if someone could give a step by step guide on how to set this up; both for the server and the client, i would be eternally greatful!

ok, we got it working; these are the settings we used:

"Configuration" screen:
1- [forward to which IPX sockets?] choose 0000-ffff: All sockets and CLICK ADD
2- [forward to which TCP/UDP ports?] choose warcraft III and CLICK ADD
3- [Host or IP] enter ip address
4- [Using Method} choose UDP - fastest, and CLICK ADD

Advanced Configuration Screen
check the following items ONLY:

Ethernet II
Forward ARP
TCP
UDP
ICMP (got this ticked so I can test ping IPs on the other LAN)
Also Match Source Port
