VPN vs. GIT

Postby pbs2000 » Thu Jan 27, 2005 6:13 am

Hello, a have been playing Red Alert 2 with Win XP Pro vpn connection for a while now and it works fine. I would like to add third player to game. This is not possible with vpn becouse only one connection is avaiblable, or is it?

I do not really understand how GIT works. How the game grabs the ipx packects from git? The game looks packets from LAN as far as i know.

I managed to set things up with 2 pc's. TCP connection and UDP both goes up nicely (says status window) but thats it. Which one should i use? I cant see other players in lobby. How do i test if git is set up correctly?

Game uses following ports: 1234, 1235, 1236, 1237. These ports uses the UDP protocol. I have forwarded them on both ends.

Then there is third computer to set up too. How? Is there any tutorials or something to this program?

Thanks for help.

to setup 3 computer just use a different git port

for example

lan1 = lan2 = 213
lan1 = lan3 = 214

lan2 = lan1 = 213
lan2 = lan3 = 215

lan3 = lan1 = 214
lan3 = lan2 = 215

The two generic wizards in 0.99 BETA 4 will help you set up any number of computers like this, automatically assigning ports based on your IPs.
