Question: LAN to LAN + Router, multi games users

Hi there, I only just come across your wonderful program after searching for a means to link 2 or more LANs together for gaming only.
What I would like to know is, can GIT offer a service of letting players from 1 LAN, play another LAN in games like WC3, Generals, etc when both LANs connect to the inet through a router with NAT.
I'm talking about say 4 players from 1 LAN being able to play 4 players from the other LAN all in the 1 game.

If this can be done then what is required in setting up the routers and games ?
Also would GIT have to be running on the PC hosting the game or can it be hosted on a PC thats not even being used for the gameplay.

I read somewhere on here that for Generals to work, both LANs need to be on the same IP range, i.e 192.168.1.xxx for it to work. Would this mean LAN 1 would be e.g 192.168.1.1-4 then LAN 2 is 192.168.1.5-8 ?

Would each game have to use a different port and that port forwarded by the router to that PC, e.g for WC3:
192.168.1.1:6112
192.168.1.2:6113
192.168.1.3:6114
192.168.1.4:6115

192.168.1.5:6116
192.168.1.6:6117
192.168.1.7:6118
192.168.1.8:6119
I know that the port can be changed within WC3

Thanks for your time and I hope I've made sense.
