Hi
I have a problem with GIT it wont work properly
my friend and i want to play Tiberian Sun through GIT
This game is based on IPX
we are both sitting behind a router and got GIT so far that I can find him in the lobby but he doesnt find me

we installed ipx protocols and used udp to tunnel

and for both it looks like this:

xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:215 (udp) - UP since Sun May 09 20:09:43 2004
last packet received from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
last packet forwarded at Sun May 09 20:21:26 2004
last packet received at Sun May 09 20:19:42 2004

for xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx there are the ips of each other...
can somebody help us?

what protocols do you have checked in GIT. check old ipx and regular ipx both, and make sure both of you forwarded all ipx ports in the config menu just in case.

i was having some problems getting doom ipx to run until i went into the IPX protocol in windows and changed my network number. i changed mine to 4 and my friend changed his to 5 and then it worked. might want to fool with that as well.

what protocols do you have checked in GIT

IPX
NLSP / Old IPX
SPX / SPX II
NetBIOS
Echo
Error
RIP
NCP

so I've checked all, my friend did it, too

and we installed IPX protocols, my friend has a number in his network properties
my number is 00000000
I can see him in the lobby of the game, but he cant find me there.
and sometimes I also cant find him

we both using udp at 215 to get a connection
I have an forwarded log and an incoming log

this is from the forwarded log:
[Sun May 09 23:28:26 2004] network: IEEE802.2 IPX RIP to:00000000.ffffffffffff:0453 from:00000000.00e07d7ca1bd:0453 'ok'

and this from the incoming log:
[Sun May 09 23:26:44 2004] 80.135.191.164: IEEE802.2 IPX NCP to:00000000.ffffffffffff:0452 from:00000000.00c126028447:4066 'ok'

these are only parts of the logs, there are also parts with NetBIOS IPX and so on.

I dont know whats wrong
thanks for the advice
but we need further help

Technically if you change your network numbers so that you are on different networks, nothing GIT can do should be able to make the programs see eachother then. All workstations on the same local network typically need to have the network number as well as the frame type to be the same on all workstations, or the IPX packets won't always reach their destination. I recommend leaving the network number to 0 and forcing the frame type to 802.2, which is the best standard for IPX available.
