0.99 BETA 4 IPX doesn't work

Postby andrewwan1980 » Thu Mar 27, 2008 4:58 am

Apparently (after reading through the forums), 0.99 BETA 4 doesn't work for IPX.

Does anyone know where we can get old versions of GIT, eg. 0.98?

Just to confirm, if anyone (non Morpheus-staff) got 0.99 BETA 4 working with IPX over the internet, please reply and say so and which game. Otherwise, reply saying what you have tried and what didn't work.

Also reply if you have EVER got GIT working with IPX games, and state which version of GIT

ipx successes

I have had past success with Git 0.99b4 & winpcap 3.1b4.
xpsp2
Warcraft 2
Red Alert 2
Starcraft
Doom 95

A few things need to be in line:
- udp port 213 portforwarded to PC running GIT (on both networks)
- winxp IPX protocol settings
- GIT socket-forwarding & advanced settings

XP:
Install NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol.
All players must have the IPX protocol bound to the NIC.
IPX Properties:
Internal network number: i leave this alone
Frame type: Ethernet II or 802.2 (experiment 'til your game works)
Internal network number: 00000001

GIT cfg:
IP address to connect with
Port 213
Method UDP
Forward IPX sockets particular to the game.
It's usually pretty safe to just forward all sockets 0000-ffff.
GIT Advanced cfg:
Pick the right NIC. (If there are issues picking your NIC, read this thread http://forums.morpheussoftware.net/viewtopic.php?t=272)
everything UNCHECKED except the following.
IEEE 802.2
Ethernet II
(All 8 IPX checkboxes checkmarked)
Also match source port
Don't send routable
that's all. the rest are UNCHECKED.

Match your settings between the players, and, if the game is properly configured (for example RA2 needs a small in-game network config tweak to work) then you should be good to go for IPX play.
