If properly set up, GIT can do everything a VPN can do other then the encryption, so there is never any need to use a VPN.

Me n my friends also had that prob first ... we fixed somehow... try open more ports.. But the thing is now we can join eachothers games without getting timed out but when we start the game the other players "laggs out"
before the game even starts

We can't help you with that because we do not have the game among other reasons.
Also, just copying somebody else's configuration window will not always make it work for you, since how you configure GIT is largely dependant on how your network is set up and if you use NAT and if the other person on the other side uses NAT, etc. You really need to understand more about your own network in order to set up GIT.
For finding ports that applications use, GIT provides logging abilities, but other tools as simple as netstat work too. If under WinXP you can use the -p option for netstat and compare the PID with the PID in task manager to find which ports are owned by which application, but netstat may not always show UDP ports in use.

It works to join eachothers games with UDP-fastest but players drop when the game starts.. thats the prob right?

Then maybee thats because in lobby the game uses UDP but when ingame the game maybe uses TCP right?
So can anyone try with both UDP/TCP enabled in GIT?

Maybe thats why I got it to work using VPN and GIt together...

Anyway have no friends around at the time to try with so try it out and if someone manage to get this working without VPN plz POST detailed config!!
