How to save as a Compressed AVI.

I seem to be having trouble saving in a format that I can load into other problems. The Save as Menu always comes up as a Flash save, but I need it to Save as a Compressed AVI. What do I need to do?
Thanks for all your help.

You can set a specific file format in the Timeline Options window, which will be saved as part of your layout, if you don't want to have to pick the file type each time you render. To enable AVI options, make sure you are using the Professional edition or higher.

I'm having the same problem trying to save a timeline in the AVI format, but I have the standard edition. This format is unavailable there??

Correct, AVI output is not available in the standard edition.

This seems puzzling since on both the website description and the 'Help' section of the standard software it mentions AVI availability.

The help files included with the programs, which are the same as the ones on our website, cover all editions of the program, just like the trial version.
