AVI Loading Problems

Hi there,

I have purchased the Industrial version of the Morpheus Software and no matter what type of AVI I use.........I can not load an AVI. I have tried installing the software on my Desktop and my laptop and they both have the same problem. I am running Windows XP on both computers.

It keeps saying "the file is corrupted or I do not have the proper codec loaded on my computer"

I have Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, and many other pieces of software that use dozens and dozens of types of video codecs. So I know they are installed and working fine cuz I use them daily for video editing, 3D animation and Special FX work.

I have tried all the most popular AVI file formats compressed and uncompressed and nothing works I have spent over 4 hours trying to get this to work. I've been converting AVI"S to all other formats of AVI's in After EFFECTS.......even seeing if would make a difference with or with and alpha channel attached or Audio attached or unattached. Nothing frickin' works....bizarre......never had a problem like this before......

Is there an AVI-Format that the Morpheus Software likes the most?

I have even tried loading an animation(AVI) I made and saved(rendered) in the morpheus program and it won't even load an AVI that it created itself.......LOL........

So what am I missing here?? I tried over a dozen of AVI's hoping I would find one that the software likes.....NO LUCK at ALL!!!!

Is there phone number I can call........I spent the money so I would like to get this working Asap.....I'm not using this software cuz I'm bored.....I want to use it for professional work. So please.......somebody help!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!

Thanks,

Adam, I'm a relative newbie to this software as well, but I think you seem to be attempting to IMPORT an AVI to Morpheus.

I'm pretty certain you can't do this. You create the morph in Morpheus and then EXPORT it as an AVI for insertion into, for example, a video editing program. You save the file in Morpheus as an .aml (Morpheus Animation Layout) file. That file can then be reopened in Morpheus for further editing etc, but would then need to be re-exported as an AVI.

I THINK that's right, though I notice you're using the Industrial version so it may have the feature to do what you want; the Professional version doesn't, I'm sure.

The Industrial version of Morpher and Animation Suite can import movies and use them as the input pictures, playing through both of them as the morph progresses. Morpheus interfaces with DirectShow which largely depends on the version of DirectX and MediaPlayer you have installed. Morpheus can normally import just about any type of AVI files, MPG files if they are MPEG-1 files, and WMV files, because all of these formats are natively supported by DirectShow.

A simple test that should work on all default installs of Windows XP is to start a new, blank layout with no pictures loaded. Render your timeline to an AVI file, then select Microsoft Video 1, which is a pretty low-quality codec, but it always comes with Windows and works with just about any settings. Render your timeline again and select Uncompressed AVI from the "Save as type" so you aren't even prompted for a codec. Both of these two AVIs should be able to be loaded into your two picture boxes with the Load Picture button.

AVI's Still will not Load!!!!!

Hi there,

I did the tests that you recommended and it still gives the same error messages.

What version of Direct X or Direct show do I need? And any other variables that could help fix this problem.

I really need to fix this problem ASAP because I need to use this software for an upcoming job.

Please get back to me ASAP.

Direct X 9.0c and Windows Media Player 9 are probably safe bets. I have Windows Media Player 10 on my test computer here. I'm running a fairly basic Windows XP SP2 installer with all the latest patches from auto updates. On stock XP systems with no SP even, you have DirectX 8.1 and Media Player 8. In our tests, even these systems can load AVI and MPG files without any issues. Media Player 9 is required to load WMV files.
It may actually be more likely that you have some additional software installed which somehow prevents normal decoding of the movie files. We may be able to analyze this with special debug builds. Please email support using the link above for more details.

What am I suppose to say to them?

Thanks for getting back to me so soon. You send to email the support link above??

So I won't be dealing with you then? If so......could you tell exactly what to tell them so I can get this problem sorted out ASAP???

Thanks,
