i'd like to be able to morph my 1st image into the position of the 2nd image without changing the rgb values of the 1st image. is this possible?

Yes, what you want to create is a Warp. Follow the sample warps that come with the program to see how to set the options. You can load the any image into the 2nd image box, it does not have to be a duplicate of the first image since it is not really used.
