19 MB morph won't upload to Gallery

Postby Lee2CA » Wed Jan 20, 2010 8:01 pm

I've tried several times over the past few days to upload my morph, but after about 13 minutes, when it has seemingly finished uploading, an error message appears saying "try again later." Any way to get around this?

There is a 2MB limit to all files uploaded to Morpheus Galleries.

Thanks -- I did finally dig that info up today. However, when I made another morph using tiny files so that the total was only about 200k, the size of the gif was the same (19 MB) as with the larger files. Any way to get around this?

You're probably better off uploaded it as a SWF then. GIF files are generally large no matter what. It's just a limitation of the poor compression of that file format.

Yup, I tried swf, but the swf file was larger than the gif. Go figure!

That is usually only the case if somebody set the Quality setting to 100 in Timeline Options. Anything above 90 for SWF/JPG compression usually results in a significantly larger file with entirely no visual difference. Even the difference between 75 (the default) and 90 is so tiny it is almost unnoticeable, except for the greatly reduced file size.

Thanks, that's very helpful! I didn't know that setting made so much difference in file size with no difference in quality.
