Hair gets in the way

I'm refining a layout I did yesterday, and the main thing I want to do is move hair in and out of faces. For instance, if one face has hair on their forehead, and the next one doesn't, I want to be able to place lines of dots along the line of hair, so that rather than fade, which looks bad, it would move out of the way.
The problem is, I've got so many lines of dots on my faces that when I try to add these extra lines, they overlap other lines sometimes, and I end up with blank triangle areas on the pictures. Luckily I hadn't saved the layout, but I really don't know what to do about that. Is it possible to have too many dots/lines?
Maybe a better question is: for anyone who morphs faces, how do you deal with hair?
