Morph first picture only

Postby lewismoten » Sun May 14, 2006 1:39 pm

In the past, I was able to use Morpheus 1.85 to morph from one picture to another, but retain the original picture. I've linked to a past example of what I was doing at the end of this post.

I was using Morpheus to adjust images so that I could map them to UV Maps. I would use the images for 3D mapping.

I've just purchased this new Morpheus version and tried my hand at it again. I found that when I set the options so that the Ending Picture is not Rendured, I'm getting it blanked out to white instead of seeing the first image as morphed. I've upgraded to professional and then Industrial and can't find any options that would help me out.

I've also looked at the warper product, but it doesn't let me map dots to a second image that I want to warp to. Can anyone help me find the feature that I'm looking for?

What you are doing is something between a morph and a warp, and it does at first appear that v1.85 may be more suited to what you are trying to do, because when you create warps in the new v3.00, you can only load 1 picture, and you actually stretch the warp in-place now, in the second picture box, which is great for almost everybody, who wants to create warps with Morpheus Photo Warper or Morpheus Photo Animation Suite. What you are doing can still be done in v3.00 fortunately, and here is how:

First, you will need the Professional edition, or higher, in order to use key frames. Create a new morph, and load your two pictures into the morph just as you have done in v1.85. The next step is to create a key frame at 0%, by right clicking on the Start picture on the timeline, and making it a keyframe. A somewhat optional step is to make your morph only 1 frame long in the Morph Options window (you can always just ignore the frames past the first frame too). Here is where the process unfrotunately will get a little tricky - you need to set your morph size to the same exact size as your 2nd picture, and you will need to copy all of your dots from the ending picture, to the keyframe at 0%. If the morph size in the Timeline Options differs from the picture size, then copying the dots to a different size window may not produce the results you expect.

If you have any questions, please post back here. I am sure that what you are trying to do can still be done with v3.00 with the improved interface and features available in the new version.

I have the industrial version of Morpheus. I started to get it rite, but as soon as I add more dots, things go balistic and the dots seem as if they don't want to move. I also found that "Fade Selected Dots" works as well, but I'm getting the same results.

Is v1.85 still available for purchase? I can't find it on your site anylonger.

I'm not sure what you mean by "things go balistic...". You should be able to do this with v3.00.

No, v1.85 is no longer available for purchase or download since it has been replaced by the new v3.00 programs. If you can upload the two pictures you want to use (the original face, and the outline UV map) I can probably put together a quick sample with just a few dots showing you what I mean.

Dots still not moving

Postby lewismoten » Sat Aug 04, 2007 11:11 pm

I decided to have another go at this. Sure enough, the non-moving dot problem comes back.

1) Add dots
2) Move them around
3) Set dots in last frame to have a fade of 0%
Morph -> Edit Fade Graphs -> Fade Percentage : 0
4) Add more dots
5) Move them around
6) Go back to edit fade graphs and move the new dots into the original group of fading.
7) Play movie ... new dots don't seem to move
